Larry's Dexter Gordon Tribute Quintet will perform an authentic program of Dexter's Blue Note original hits & more. Having worked with Dexter in Denmark and Austria, Larry brings a firsthand interpretation of Dexter's music. In 1963, Larry Vuckovich spent a year on the European jazz scene, mostly in Denmark, where he played with Dexter at the famed Montmartre Club in Copenhagen. In the later 60's, Larry returned to Europe and played a memorable concert with Dexter and Philly Joe, at the Ossiach Jazz Festival in Austria, which was recorded by the Austrian National Radio. While living in Copenhagen in '63, Larry remembers an inspiring night at the Montmartre playing with three tenor masters: Dexter Gordon, Don Byas, and Paul Gonsalves. Dexter's powerful style and impact on jazz stayed with Larry to the present day, and now, Larry is honored to keep on performing Dexter's music.
