Internationales TV Jazz Workshop, "Rhythm & Sound", Vienna 1969
This was a workshop on TV that showed how jazz develops at the rehearsal stage, starting with the trio, and working up to a larger band. A man would bring a chart, and we would play it. Then a horn player would be added, then other horn players, then the entire big band. This was on Austrian national television! You wouldn't see that today, and you wouldn't see a network in the U.S. carry something like that. Philly Joe Jones, Slide Hampton, Dusko Goykovich, Jimmy Woode (the Ellington bassist), and Franco Ambrosetti were also on that date.
